Under general supervision, assist in identifying and diagnosing students with disabilities; provide service to the student and his/her teacher to enable successful functioning in the least restrictive instructional setting; serve as a liaison to parents whose child is involved in the resource program.
Help coordinate efforts to appropriately involve parents in the Student Study Team (SST) proceedings and in the implementation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Coordinate referrals from SST with appropriate personnel and parents so that needed assessments are completed to determine student’s educational needs and placement.
Act as a resource to the school staff in the Resource Specialists’ areas of expertise, (i.e. assessment, remediation of basic skills).
Develop and update the IEP of students placed in the resource program.
Provide remedial instruction as prescribed in the written IEP for identified students.
Oversee the Resource Specialist Instructional Paraprofessional’s schedule.
Provide support services to the general education teacher when resource specialist students are mainstreamed.
Maintain professional competence through participation in in-service educational activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
Attend all appropriate staff meetings, in-services, workshops, and other related professional meetings.
Organize and keep IEP files current so District timelines are met.
Maintain a monthly attendance register.
