On April 29th, the third graders visited AT&T Park in San Francisco for a Giants Geometry tour and class. We toured the ballpark that is home to the San Francisco Giants and had a class that connected geometry to baseball and the construction of the ballpark. Third graders study a lot of geometry standards, and it is fun to apply this knowledge in a practical way. Students even calculated the perimeter of home plate and learned why home plate is called home plate. We sat in the visitors’ dugout and saw the visitors’ clubhouse.
